AOL SAFETY AND SECURITY CENTER INSTRUCTIONS

< Full System Scan for Viruses>

1) Double-click on the America Online Safety and Security Center icon on the desktop.

2) Click on the Status tab.

3) Click on Run Full Scan.

4) Wait about 5 to 20 minutes for the computer to be scanned for viruses.

5) Check the number of viruses cleaned, blocked and deleted in the center of the window.

6) Close the America Online Safety and Security Center window by clicking on the X button in the upper right-hand corner of that window.

TO SET UP THE AUTOMATIC SCAN FEATURE:

Note: This is how you can set up the computer to automatically scan for viruses.

1) Double-click on the America Online Safety and Security Center icon on the desktop.

2) Click on the Scan Schedule tab.

3) Under Weekly Full Scan, click on the Down Arrow next to the time and AM/PM and select the time you want, such as 11:00 PM.

4) Click on the Down Arrow next to the day of the week and click on the day you want, such as Sunday.

Note: Remember to leave your computer ON at the scheduled scanning time every week (in our example, on Sundays at 11:00 PM). You may want to write the time and day on a small Avery file folder label and stick it on the front of the monitor to remind yourself.

5) Click on the Save Changes button.
