TO TURN OFF AUTOMATIC NUMBERING - Microsoft Word 97 and above

1) Be sure that the Numbering button   is not depressed at the top of the screen.

2) Click on Insert, then on AutoText, then on AutoText.

3) Click on the AutoFormat As You Type tab.

4) Click on Automatic numbered lists to remove the checkmark. ("Automatic bulleted lists" is also found here, if you want to turn this OFF, too.)

5) Click on OK.
