TO DISABLE THE NORTON ANTI-VIRUS PROGRAM (in order to install a new program*)

1) Double-click on the Norton Anti-Virus 200X icon on the desktop.

2) Click on the Options button.

3) Click on Auto-Protect on the left.

4) Click to remove the check mark next to: Start Auto-Protect when Windows starts up.

5) Click to remove the check marks next to: Run or opened and Created or downloaded (under "Scan files when they are:").

6) Click on OK.

7) Click on Yes when you are asked, "Would you like to load it [Auto-Protect] now?".

8) Click on the X button to exit the program.

9) Install your new program. (Please see our instructions for installing new programs.)

TO RE-ENABLE THE NORTON ANTI-VIRUS PROGRAM

1) Open the Norton Anti-Virus program by double-clicking on its icon on the desktop.

2) Click on the Options button.

3) Click on Auto-Protect on the left.

4) Click into the small white box next to: ü Load Auto-Protect at startup to put a check mark into it.

5) Click to put check marks next to: ü Run or opened and üCreated or downloaded.

6) Click on OK.

7) Click on Yes.

8) Click on the Exit button.

* some programs will not install if Norton Anti-Virus is activated.
