TO SET UP IDENTITY SAFE (NORTON INTERNET SECURITY 2008):

1) Open the Internet Explorer web browser.

2) Click on Identity Safe on the Toolbar at the top of the Internet Explorer window.

3) Click on Settings.

4) Under Choose a password you will use to access your Identity Safe data, type in the password you want to use twice. Also, type in a password hint to remind you what the password is if you forget it.

5) Click on Next.

TO SET UP THE IDENTITY SAFE  “CARD” FEATURE:

Note: This feature allows you to automatically fill in the boxes on a web site with your name, physical address, e-mail address, birth date, etc. This is a different feature than the Log-in feature discussed below.

1) Click on Identity Safe on the Toolbar at the top of the web browser, then on Cards.

2) Click on Add Card if the new card window doesn’t automatically pop up on the screen.

3) Click on the General, Contact, and Credit Card tabs, and fill in each section with your name, physical address, e-mail address, credit card number, etc.

4) If you want to password-protect this card, which means you must type in a password each time you want this program to automatically fill out a form on a web page, click on ¤ I will enter this password each time this card is used. Then type the password you want in the Password: and Confirm: boxes.

5) You can type a name to this card, such as My Primary Card to identify it in the Card Nickname: box, if you want to create more than one Card. Otherwise, use the default name for the Card, which is New Card 1.

6) Click on the Save button at the bottom.

7) Click on the X button at the upper right-hand corner of the Identity Safe window.

TO USE THE CARD FEATURE:

1) Click on Log-ins, then on Log in to Identity Safe.

2) Type the password you chose in the first section above.

3) Click on OK.

4) When you go to a web site that requires you to type in your first name, last name, e-mail address, physical address, birth date, etc., click on Identity Safe, then on Fill with, then on My Primary Card, New Card 1, or whatever your Card is named.

5) You should then see some or all of the fields fill in automatically with your personal data. (These fields will turn green.)

6) Fill in any missing fields that you need (the white fields).

7) Click on the Submit, Save or Continue button on the web page, or whatever button you need to click on to save the data.

TO USE THE LOG-IN FEATURE:

1) Go to a web site where you are required to type in a username and password, such as WellsFargo.com.

2) Click on the Member Login button.

3) Type your username and password in the appropriate boxes, then click on the Log-in button.

4) You should then see the Identity Safe window pop up on the screen.

5) At the prompt, “Would you like to save your login information for this web page?,” click on Yes.

6) When you want to quickly go to the, for example, Wells Fargo.com site and log-in, you can click on the Log-ins button, then click on WellsFargo.com.

TO DELETE THE SAVED LOG-IN ENTRIES: 

1) Click on Log-ins at the top of the Internet Explorer window.

2) Click on Manage Log-ins.

3) Click on, for example, WellsFargo.com…, then on the Delete button below. 

4) Repeat for any other entries in the list under WellsFargo.com that you want to delete.

TO LOG OUT OF THE IDENTITY SAFE PROGRAM:

1) Click on the Log-ins button.

2) Click on Log out of Identity Safe.

3) If you restart the computer and see the “Do you want to set up Identity Safe now?” window pop up again, click on  ü Don’t ask me again, then click on the Close button if you don’t want to use the Identity Safe program.

TO DISABLE THE IDENTITY SAFE PROGRAM:

1) Double-click on the Norton Internet Security 2008 icon on the desktop.

2) Click on the Norton Internet Security tab at the top of the window.

3) Click on the wide Settings button.

4) Click on Transaction Security.

5) Click on Identity Safe.

6) Click on Turn Off.

7) Close the Norton Internet Security 2008 window.

IF YOU WANT TO RE-ENABLE THE IDENTITY SAFE PROGRAM AGAIN:

1) Double-click on the Norton Internet Security 2008 icon on the desktop.

2) Click on the Norton Internet Security tab at the top of the window.

3) Click on the wide Settings button.

4) Click on Transaction Security.

5) Click on Identity Safe.

6) Click on Turn On.

7) Close the Norton Internet Security 2008 window.

8) Open Internet Explorer.

9) Click on Log-ins at the top of the window, then on Log in to Identity Safe.

10) Type the password in the Password: box, then click on OK.
