PRINT LAYOUT VIEW VS. OUTLINE VIEW

1) If your Word document shows tiny little square at the far left on every line (see the left edge of this paragraph), then you are in the Outline View. This means that you are in the mode that allows you to create a regular outline of, say, your lecture notes. The Outline View button is the fourth button from the left at the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. It looks like this, but is much smaller:

2) To return to the “normal” view of your Word document, click on the Print Layout View button. It’s the third button from the left at the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. It looks like this, but is much smaller:
