TO RESET YOUR CABLE MODEM

1) Unplug the black power cord that goes into the back of your Motorola SB5100 "Surfboard" Cable Modem (or equivalent modem model).

2) Wait about 10 seconds, then plug the black power cord back into the back of the Cable Modem (the plug only goes in one way).

3) Watch the four green lights on the front of the Cable Modem; they must all be on steadily. (This could take a couple of minutes or longer.)

4) If all four lights are not on steadily (for example, if the bottom green light--the Online light is blinking) and don't look like they will be on steadily no matter how long you wait, then repeat steps 1 through 3 above.

Note: Your modem model may have a different number of lights on it. They could also have different labels next to the lights, such as Data instead of Activity.

5) The only light that should be flashing or blinking should be the bottom amber light (the Activity light).

6) If the above procedure doesn't resolve your problem, then turn off your computer, repeat steps 1 through 5 above, then turn your computer back on.

7) If you still have a problem getting your e-mail or accessing the Web, there could be a system-wide problem with Road Runner, Cox, Comcast or your High Speed Cable Access Provider. Try your e-mail and web access again later in the day.
