INSTALLING & USING TWEAKUI
Note: “TweakUI” stands for “Tweak User Interface.” It is a small program, or "utility," that allows you to change certain cosmetic and other settings for Windows 98/ME/XP.
For Windows 98 & ME:
1) Insert the Windows 98/ME CD into your CD-ROM drive.
2) Immediately hold down the Shift key to prevent the Windows 98/ME setup screen from coming on the
screen.
3) Wait about 30 seconds.
4) Release the Shift key.
5) Open the Windows Explorer.
6) Scroll down to the CD-ROM drive (this could be your D: or E: drive--this depends on the computer).
7) Click on the Tools folder.
8) Click on the reskit folder.
9) Click on the powertoy folder.
10) Click once on the "tweakui.inf" file.
11) Right-click on the "tweakui.inf" file.
12) Click on Install.
13) Wait about 30 seconds.
14) Close the Tweakui Help screen.
15) Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel. Scroll down to the TweakUI icon and double-click
on it.
16) Change the settings you want to modify (for example, you can get rid of the
tiny, curved Shortcut arrow from your Shortcuts).
For Windows XP:

TO USE TWEAKUI:
1) To open TweakUI, click on Start, then on All Programs, then on Powertoys for Windows XP.
2) One particularly useful function that is part of the TweakUI program is the Network logon feature. This feature automatically types your User Name and Password in the Windows Logon screen and clicks on the OK button for you, thus, speeding up the startup of the computer.
1) Double-click on Logon on the left.
2) Click on Autologon.
3) Click on Log on automatically at system startup.
4) Type in the User Name that you see in the Logon box when you first started the computer. (Be sure to type it in exactly.)
5) Click on Set Password, then type in the Logon password twice, then click on OK.
6) Click on OK.
Note: This defeats the security feature of having a password to open Windows XP’s desktop, so use this only on a computer that doesn’t have to be secure!
