TO CHANGE THE "VIEW" OF FILES IN THE MY DOCUMENTS, MY PICTURES, AND OTHER FOLDERS (Windows XP)
1) Open the My Documents folder, the My Pictures folder, or whatever folder you want.
2) Click on the Views button. (It's the button at the far right on the Button Bar at the top of the window.
This button has a picture of an open window—like the My Documents window, with 6 tiny icons of files on
it.)
3) Click on Details to see each file with the file name, size, type of file, date modified (or created),
etc., all in a row.
Or click on Icons to see each file as an icon.
Or click on Thumbnails to see a thumbnail-size representation of each picture (if the files are pictures).
Wait a few moments for the icons of each picture file to change into a thumbnail of that picture. Note that the
sub-folders that contain pictures will have tiny representations of the photos contained within on their covers
(up to a maximum of 4 photos).
4) To see a larger version of any picture, just double-click on its thumbnail.

TO SORT THE FILES ALPHABETICALLY BY FILE NAME
1) Click on the Views button again, then click on Details.
2) Click on the Name button once. The Name button is the gray button at the top of the file name
column. (It looks just like a column heading, but actually it's a button.) This will sort the files alphabetically.
3) Click on the Name button once again. This will sort the files alphabetically in reverse order. Repeat
to sort them again in the same order as in step 3 above.
TO SORT THE FILES CHRONOLOGICALLY
1) Click on the Date Modified button once. The Date Modified button is the gray button at the top
of the date modified column. (It looks just like a column heading, but actually it's a button.) This will sort
the files chronologically with the newest files at the top. (Note how the folders, however, will stay grouped together
at the top no matter what the Date is on them.)
2) Click on the Date Modified button once again. This will sort the files chronologically with the newest
files at the bottom. (Note how the folders, however, will stay grouped together at the bottom no matter what the
Date is on them.)
