TO SAVE A DOCUMENT IN THE WORD FORMAT (WITH MICROSOFT WORKS):

1) Open Microsoft Works.

[2) Click on Start a blank Word Processor document.]

3) Type your document.

4) Click on File, then on Save As.

5) Type a name for this file, such as Letter to the Editor, in the File name: box.

6) Click on the Down Arrow next to the Save as type: box, then change it from Works document (*.wps)  to  Word 97-2000 & 6.0/95 - RTF (*.doc).

Note: Word 97-2000 & 6.0/95 RTF  makes this document compatible with all previous versions of Microsoft Word, such as Word 2000 and Word 97. (You will also be able to open this document in newer versions of Word, such as Word 2003 or Word 2007.)

7) Click on the Save button.
