MICROSOFT WIRELESS OPTICAL MOUSE 2000BATTERIES1) The Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2000 (and many other Microsoft Wireless Mouse models) uses two 1.5 volt “AA” size batteries. 2) Turn the mouse over. Stick your thumbnail, a nail file or something similar into the narrow slot, then press inward and open the small door that covers the battery compartment. 3) Be careful when inserting the batteries that you put them in correctly. It is very easy to put the batteries in so that the positive (+) end of the battery is in the negative side ( - ) [where the spring is], or vice versa. Check the “legend” or icon near the hole where you put the batteries in to see how they should go in. 4) Be sure to check the batteries periodically with a Battery Checker. You can buy an inexpensive Battery Checker at Radio Shack or at some computer stores that tells you whether the battery is “OK” or if it’s time to “Replace” them. Check the batteries before you put them into the mouse to be sure you aren’t putting in old batteries. 5) The batteries should normally last about 5-6 months with the Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse. You should receive a warning message on the screen when it’s time to replace them. CONNECTING1) Push the Connect button on the Receiver (the black box that looks like an elongated hockey puck). The Receiver is plugged into one of the USB ports on your computer. 2) Use the tip of a ballpoint pen or toothpick to press the recessed Connect button on the underside of the mouse. (You must do this within about 1 minute of doing step # 1.) DISTANCE1) Keep the distance between the Receiver and the Mouse to no more than 6-8 inches, if possible. The mouse pointer may skip if this distance is too great, especially when the batteries are running down. |
